Your Coach · Indoor Golf School
THE COACH WHO SHOWS YOU THE NUMBERS.
“Most golfers have never seen what their swing is actually doing. I built this studio to change that, one session at a time.”
I’m Richard Gilling, a PGA-qualified coach and the founder of this indoor golf school. I’ve spent over a decade watching golfers invest in lessons, new clubs, and YouTube fixes and leave with nothing permanent.
What I realised early in my coaching career is that most golfers don’t fail to improve because they lack effort. They fail because no one has ever shown them an objective picture of their own swing. That’s what Trackman changes. That’s what this studio is built around.

I Started Where You Are
I was a frustrated golfer before I was a coach. I spent years playing by feel, selecting clubs by gut instinct, guessing my carry distances, trying tips from magazines and YouTube. My handicap moved slowly and unpredictably. I couldn’t understand why some days I’d hit 9 greens and other days I’d miss them all with the same swing.
What I didn’t know, what nobody had ever told me, was that my attack angle was −5°, my smash factor was 1.30, and I was losing 30 yards on every drive through pure inefficiency. Not effort. Not fitness. Mechanical inefficiency that a 10-minute Trackman session would have revealed in an instant.
“The day I first saw my own numbers on a Trackman screen, I realised I hadn’t really understood golf at all. I’d been playing a completely different game to the one I thought I was playing.”
Opinions Are Cheap. Data Is Honest.
When I qualified as a PGA professional, the dominant coaching model was observation — watch a student swing, make a judgement call, prescribe a fix. For experienced coaches with sharp eyes, this works reasonably well. But it has one fundamental flaw: the human eye cannot see face angle at impact to 0.1° accuracy. It cannot measure smash factor or spin rate. It cannot compare your swing today to your swing last month.
Trackman can. SAM PuttLab can. And once I started coaching with those tools, my students’ improvement rates went up dramatically — not because I became a better coach, but because I stopped guessing and started measuring. The students who’d spent years bouncing between coaches, never quite improving, started making permanent changes within a few sessions.
The reason is simple: when you can see the problem precisely, you can fix it precisely. When you’re working from an opinion, you might fix it. When you’re working from a number, you know exactly what changed and why.
The Studio Changes What's Possible
I built this indoor studio because I was frustrated with the limitations of outdoor coaching. Wind affecting ball flight. Sun glare on screens. Shared bays on busy driving ranges. Inconsistent surfaces for putting work. All of it creates noise that makes precise coaching harder than it needs to be.
Indoors, every lesson is filmed from two angles, every shot is measured on Trackman, every putting stroke is captured by SAM PuttLab. The lighting is consistent. The surface is flat. There are no distractions. A student gets more useful data in one 60-minute indoor session than in six months of outdoor practice.
And the unlimited practice bay access means the work doesn’t stop between lessons. Most golfers take a lesson, then don’t reinforce the change for two weeks. The habit fades. Old mechanics return. The same lesson gets taught again. The bay access breaks that cycle entirely.

What to expect
YOUR FIRST SESSION WITH ME
A lot of golfers arrive expecting a traditional lesson — a coach watching from behind, offering opinions, giving tips to try on the range next time you play. That’s not what happens here.
From the moment you step into the studio, everything is measured. The cameras run. Trackman captures data. And by the end of the session, you leave understanding your swing scientifically for the first time.
First 10 minutes — I listen
What's frustrating you? What have you tried? What are your goals? I need to understand your game before I analyse it. The coaching starts before you pick up a club.
You hit shots — Trackman captures everything
No instruction yet. I want to see your natural game first. Club speed, ball speed, smash factor, attack angle, spin rate — all captured before I say a word about your swing.
We review the data together
I show you the numbers on screen and explain what each one means for your game. Most students say this moment alone is worth the session fee — finally understanding why their game does what it does.
We fix one thing at a time
Not six things. One thing — the most important one. You practise it. Trackman shows the data moving in real time. You leave with one specific change and a written drill to reinforce it.

“I’d had lessons before but never anything like this. Seeing my Trackman data for the first time was eye-opening — I had no idea my smash factor was that low.
By lesson 6 it had gone up significantly and I could feel the difference.

Is indoor coaching as good as outdoor lessons?
For technique work, indoor is better. Controlled conditions, fixed cameras, Trackman on every shot. No wind affecting ball flight, no sun glare on the screen, no other golfers watching. Every swing change you make translates directly to the course because it’s your mechanics we’re improving — not course management.
